Growing fast!

Here's our little baby kitty Bonnie Blue who has now doubled in weight and is almost growing as we watch her. The most noticeable sign of her rapid growth is she no longer has huge rabbit ears!

She continues to be good buddies with Cal-Jo and but can now more than hold her own in their many play/fights.

And here's Sukie doing what she likes best, staying out of it all and kicking back with 'grandma's' full attention!

Caption Competition!!

I took this tonight and am too tired myself to come up with a caption. So I thought let's just have a competition and I will send the best entry a goody bag of luscious body treats from The Body Shop.

I will choose the winner with the Hubster Thursday night at 10pm. This is open to US & UK residents as I can send the prize back with my mum if needed.

This is my blogging lot until Friday, as I am rushing around like a headless chicken what with work, bathroom renovation still and preparing for my mum!

Bonnie Blue progress report

Well she's full of personality, beans and very vocal, she likes to let us know what she thinks as can clearly be seen above!

She loves to have fun and spends hours playing and keeping us thoroughly entertained and occupied, 1.75lbs of endless entertainment basically!

As you can see not only is she outnumbered (Cal-Jo is out of sight under the table) but significantly outsized as well! She has no fear at all of either of them and will run right up to them and has even tried to play with Cal-Jo's tail. Most of the time she just ignores them and prances around them playing under close Hubster supervision.

Sukie pictured above is older and she is going to take longer to thaw and is more put out. But despite them both still hissing if she gets too close, Cal-Jo is definitely showing signs of non-aggressive interest. Bonnie Blue is still living in her own room and sleeping there and is now in a routine. Interestingly her introduction seems to have brought the other two much closer together!

But she still gets tired very quickly and she loves to sleep on the bed next to this big teddy bear. Her day is basically sleep for hours, eat, drink, toilet, play for an hour with occasional snacks and then she gets all sleepy again and we tuck her up!

We are 'in love' totally; she is adorable, extremely affectionate, cuddly, and she follows us everywhere we go when out of her room, prancing around like a bouncy Princess Tippy Toes! :-)

Meet Bonnie Blue (maybe)

We brought her home this afternoon and not long after we got her home the Hubster said "how about Bonnie Blue as she's a cutie with blue/green eyes?". Well right now it just seems to fit her perfectly, as Sherri commented on the other thread, you just know. So for now she's Bonnie or Bonnie Blue.

So far she is settling in fine, she hasn't drunk any water yet but has eaten 3 times, the last lot was the Hills Kitten Biscuits which she acted like she loved going by all the funny mewing noises and crunching! She also hasn't used the cat litter, which she has no experience with, but we keep putting her in it and shuffling her paws. Helpfully Cal-Jo had a tiny pee in one corner, so we have left it as she has sniffed but not hissed and she needs someone to show her!

She is a big snuggler, for the first few hours she slept first on me, then Erin my stepdaughter and then the Hubster. She likes to snuggle right into your neck or shoulder and has been purring alot. I also let her wander around the dining room where she met Cal-Jo who sat watching her at close range for 20 minutes. When Bonnie approached she hissed naturally but no aggression and she had a good sniff of her. Bonnie appears to be oblivious to her being unfriendly and just continued playing with a toy around her. The last hour she has got more confident exploring her room and a bit more vocal, which is all a good sign.

Now she is back in her room sound asleep, snuggled against a pillow. Tomorrow I take her to the vet for a checkup and her first shots. We think she's a keeper :-)

*10pm* We put some soil in her cat litter and it worked, she immediately pee'd. She now thinks I am mom and purrs whenever she see's me, so I have put a slightly warm furry hot water bottle in her bed and my t-shirt from today. Right now she is walking all over me as I type purring up a storm, the girls seem to be settling too.

Naming Baby?

We're expecting a new arrival on Sunday! And although this isn't her, it's very close to what she looks like, even down to the eye colour and pink nose. I am soooo happy and soooo excited at having a new pretty grey/white baby kitty :-)

It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and there really isn't anything I need. So when I visited a friend with kittens today, I found my perfect gift from the Hubster, not that he was at all sure at first mention. But he soon came around, as he's as big a softie as I am where kitties are concerned!

Tomorrow I am off to get just a few kitten essentials to make her right at home, as initially she will have her own room for a week, in order that we have a peaceful transition. We already have Sukie and Cal-Jo (Callie), so we are now about to become the minority in our own home and have a new little one for us all to adore. Well after a short period of adjustment on the part of the girls I'm sure!

So we have been trying to think of names, but ones that have a different first letter and syllable sound to the other 2, as it makes it easier for the cats to then recognise their own name. Here are a few I found online tonight that I kinda like:

Daisy Mae, Fia, Gia, Ziya, Gigi, Lola, Mai Tai, Pasha, Mimi, Punkin, Purrsia, Rhea (Rayur), Loubyloo, Shiloh, Roxy, Toyah, Willow, Xena

What d'ya think guys and girls, please give us your ideas too?

Got Fur - Get a FURminator!

“I love it when mum combs me with our FURminator, it makes me feel so good I purr up a storm. Now I’m a big girl and I gotta lot of pretty fur, but I shed big time all year long, let’s call it my hormones!

You have to understand I only allowed myself to be photographed midway through combing in the interests of your pets. I mean look at me, I’m a big old mess in this picture and my hair’s everywhere!

But look how much of my dead fur that sucker got out – who knew?!

It has a kinda scary name, at first I was worried Arnie was going to appear armed with a machine gun, but the FURminator is my bestfriend. Cal-Jo 'thinks' she’s my bff and I let her believe that, it keeps the peace around here!

Now this is the ‘real’ me, all prettied up and with fur as smooth as silk. From what I understand from Mum my ‘real’ bff can be found at somewhere called Petsmart, she says it’s worth every single penny, just like me. I am pretty certain that’s where I had to have come from too – ‘Petsmart’ that’d be me for sure!”

Sukie :-)

How true is this! LOL

One night not so long ago I totally forgot one of our mostly indoor kitties was still outside and went to bed. At about 2:30am I suddenly wondered where she was, then remembered her and found her stuck to the back screen door, much like this cartoon cat! Once she got indoors, her reaction was absolutely identical, as having been outdoors 7 hours she was a mite hungry!

Anyway...cat owners enjoy! And thanks to Dabrah whose blog I found this little gem on.

I keep getting the evil eye!

Our cats are indoor cats, but allowed out in the yard when we're here as it is fully fenced.

Well at about 2:15am this morning I realised I hadn't seen Sukie (the blue eyed babe) for a few hours and went to investigate, as she usually sleeps between us.

I was suddenly horrified as I realised I had forgotten to let her back indoors earlier in the evening! I scuttled to the back door to find her pressed against it waiting for her forgetful Mum to let her back in. She came in at lightening speed and proceeded to run around highly disconcerted for the next 15 minutes.

She had been left outside for 7 hours bless her heart! As Hubster pointed out, she was probably scared of all the different night noises.

Normally every morning she is hassling to go out, not today...LOL. She did not go out despite the door being open for an hour and now she has, keeps returning regularly just in case!

I feel like a very bad mother :-(

Can't a cat get some peace?

"My Mum got a new toy today and she spent all evening following me & Cal-Jo around getting right in our faces. Ok I know I'm a blue eyed babe, but this could get old real fast......

my buddy Cal-Jo gave her a dirty look to scare her off!" - Sukie
