Adam continues to soar

I was sent this link by Kymmie today, she & I spent months arguing on different sides of the fence about Adam Lambert during American Idol. I was a lover, she was a major hater and we got into it a few times! Well today she sent me this and said "I heard Adam Lambert sing Starlight by Muse this morning on GMA. I feel like I have to change my opinion about him only being a 70's -80's Glam Rock princess. I think he may have won me over...Its to die for, thought I'd let you know about my change of heart. :)

Well fair play to Kym for becoming a fan finally and having the guts to tell me LOL! I always thought he was a superstar in the making and can't wait for his album in October. I have read in many articles that the current AI tour has become the Adam tour and I'm not surprised. And he really resembles a young Elvis in this performance, I may not be his preferred gender, but he is still seriously hot ;-)

Brit Word of the Day

Todays BWOTD is another used daily:

"I had to chivvy them up"

'Chivvy' = Hurry along or to harrass someone

It depends on the context you say it in, as to which meaning it takes on, but it's more commonly used for hurry along.

Mr. Grasshopper strikes AGAIN!

So on Monday my first day back at school, I of course had a moment of drama, a crazy one!

I had a mom and her Pre-K (4yr old) in to enroll, when her little boy spotted a HUGE Grasshopper on my wall...and we all know how much I HATE Grasshoppers!

As is usual here, he looked like he was on speed for growth and I was completely freaked out. But this time so was mom, who it turns out had a bad experience as a child with one. Her dad knocked one off her arm when she was little and the head was left behind on her, ever since they freak her out too.

So let me paint you a picture....HUGE Grasshopper on wall too high for 4 yr old to reach. Me aka. Mrs 'brave professional' School Secretary lifts him up so HE can grab it for us. But he's not quite fast enough and it leaps onto the carpet, I scream, mom screams and 4yr old races after it!

Each time he goes to grab it he just misses it and it jumps, under my desk, up the wall and into my trash can. There the 4yr old contemplates his next move, as mom advises him "grab the legs like dad has shown you" and we both stand well back!

Out it jumps again straight onto mom who screams and backs into the wall, whilst our little hero scrabbles after it. Enough is enough for me now, so I make an 'All Call' announcement into the main school (no students yet) - "This is the office, we have a MAJOR problem with a Grasshopper and I need IMMEDIATE HELP from someone" this was accompanied by background shrieking from mom. I get a callback from a room to say help is coming, but in the meantime we have him spotted under the fax stand.

Mom asks me for a paper towel, which she bravely hands to her 4yr old and instructs him to cover the Grasshopper with it! He succeeds and with much encouragement from us, he picks it up and gets it outside just as help arrives.

So two grown women were saved from Grasshopper horror by about a 3ft tall 4yr old, needless to say he is already my fave Pre-K student! Oh how I've missed work and it's dramas!

My World

Saturday was a day trip to Enid for us to do a touch of shopping.

You may remember awhile ago I was bemoaning the fact I was still cowboy boot poor compared to the Hubster, see HERE. Well I'm catching him after purchasing my third pair, these gorgeous Ariat shorter ones in tan & teal, they're soft as butter and so pretty.

On our way home through the Cheyenne Valley, we spotted this beautiful field of Sunflowers and I just had to stop for piccies, with the Hubster on snake watch of course.

They were regimented in rows all facing the sun, like a beautiful surreal army battalion, as far as the eye could see.

Just so gorgeous to behold, nodding in the light breeze and sunshine, a photographers dream.

Back to real life

Well today is the first of my new school year for 2009/10.

The kiddo's don't return until the 13th, and the teachers officially this Friday, although most are already around preparing their rooms. But my summer recess is over and my alarm clock is once again set, after two months of silence.

I enjoy my work and I am actually kind of ready to go back, so I am quite looking forward to it. But the next 2 weeks are going to be CRAZY busy as I try to be ready and get everything done and put away.

And of course just in time for my return, this week our predicted temperatures are going to be over 100 everyday, wonderful! So bear with me, as I am currently somewhat hypothyroid and so am likely to be pretty tired until my levels improve and the work settles down again.

Blogging may take a little bit of a backseat, and be short and sweet as opposed to quote worthy for the next fortnight.
